Last night when falling asleep, my mind was over active and coming up with ideas for stories – yeah not the best timing! By morning I’d forgotten this ideas. Well at least I thought I had. Planning out my day, I decided I would work on my middle grade fantasy genre rewrite.
What happened by the time I walked to the cafe where I was going to sit and write, was that I remembered these ideas. Consequently, I ended up working on a completely different story – a historical rewrite inspired by my great grandma who migrated from Norway to the Wild West in the last 1800s. A very different story to the middle grade fantasy!
I’m so excited. I’ve been wanting to write this story for a long time, and in fact I’ve written a draft but I didn’t like it. Struggling to find where to start the story I’d let it be and focussed on other stories to write. Good thing I have lots of ideas! It paid off. Finally! Today, I found the beginning of the story. And now I can’t wait to write the rest of the story. The writing of the story is just as much a journey for my characters as it is for me.
Sometimes even I can’t control what exactly I write – or how the creativity flows to me. At least I got to write this morning. And to mix it up, I wrote by hand. A few pages started on my new historical novel, and a great start to the day, and the week ahead!
